Scholarship Committee

In order to recruit high-level candidates, FERASI created an independent statutory committee whose mandate is to evaluate applicants to the scholarship program and select the most promising candidates. The Committee uses an evaluation grid based on the scholarship eligibility criteria set  by the Fonds de la Recherche en Santé du Québec (FRSQ), Quebec’s main granting agency in the health sector.

To ensure the greatest possible objectivity, the seven committee members are selected from outside FERASI’s Board of directors and management. The committee includes:

  • The Director of the doctoral program of public health at the Université de Montréal
  • The Vice-dean for studies of the Faculty of Nursing at the Université de Montréal
  • The Head of the doctoral program of Nursing at McGill University
  • A representative from the Faculty of Nursing of Université Laval
  • The Director of the School of Nursing at the Université de Sherbrooke
  • The Director of Nursing from an affiliated university centre
  • An external examiner

The Selection Process

First, the Committee meets to evaluate the scholarship applications, scrutinising the academic record and the relevance of the research topic. Candidates who are selected from this  first stage are then invited to come for an interview with the committee. The most promising candidate(s) are recommended to the Board of Directors.

Eligibility

This scholarship is offered only to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have an excellent academic record and work on a research topic relating to nursing administration. The candidates must commit to pursue research career in  nursing administration. An internship with a decision maker for the duration of the doctoral studies is mandatory. Evaluation Criteria
