Course Description
The goal of this seminar is to propose a model of nursing administration based on both nursing practice knowledge and organizational theory. This seminar provides various frameworks for analyzing the organization of nursing services in a complex and changing health care environment.

The seminar includes an introduction to the major concepts and theories of organizations and examines how they relate to the values and concepts specific to nursing. It explores issues related to governance and professional work and several concepts and problems related to the administration of clinical services. In addition, this seminar looks at research perspectives and methodological issues related to research into the organization of nursing services.

Course Objective
Drawing on fundamental concepts of management and nursing administration, the participants to this seminar will be able to answer the questions given below:

  • What are the theories that guide nursing administration? What values underlie nursing administration? How do these values contribute to  the transformation of the  current health care health care system and organisation of nursing services?

  • As future researchers in the area of nursing administration, what theoretical frameworks can we use and what concepts do we need to develop?
